Mumbo Jumbo September 2016

Greetings from the coast of Maine! I’ve had some time to enjoy the waning days of summer, blowing around up here on the deep blue sea. Above is a shot of our little blue boat anchored in Gossport Harbor on the Isle of Shoals, a cluster of small islands with a rich history about six miles from the mainland. The big news around here is the sighting of two blue whales just a few miles away. Often 100 feet in length and weighing in at about 200 tons, the blue whale is the largest creature to have ever lived on the planet and a rare visitor to our New England waters. Apparently to see a pair of them is a once in a lifetime experience. After they were identified by marine biologists, we sailed the area a few times hoping to catch a glimpse, but no luck. That may be just as well, as even the young one pictured here appears to be a bit larger than my 30-foot sailboat!

Mayer Kirby Mayer Group Hits the Road This Week

Peter and Brendan Mayer and Gary Green arrive in Maine tomorrow for a day of rehearsals before hitting the road for eight shows on the east coast. Thanks to the folks at Sirius XM Radio Margaritaville, our La Casa Cayo Hueso title track continues to receive regular airplay and we’re looking forward to playing lots of tunes from the CD along with some new stuff.  There will be copies of the new CD and other merchandise available at all the venues and we’ll be happy to sign them for you after the show.

Our first show is at the Birdseye Lounge in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, this Thursday September 8. I believe there are some tickets left for this intimate 200-seat venue, so check the website to grab yours.

On Friday we head south to the Baha Brothers’ Sandbar Grill in Taunton, Massachusetts – our concert sold out there for the past two years so we’ve added a second night. On Sunday it’s on to the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, Long Island, a wonderful club where you never know who is going to show up! Last year’s show was a sellout, but I believe some tickets are still available. From there it’s down to the Manayunk Brewery in Philadelphia on Monday, September 12, and south to Ashland Coffee and Tea near Richmond, Virginia, on Tuesday, September 13.

While Peter jets to the West coast to join Jimmy Buffett for a few days, Brendan, Gary and I will perform at the Southern Cafe and Music Hall in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Thursday, September 15. We’ll unite with Pete on the 17th to perform at the annual Boatyard Beach Bash in Annapolis, Maryland, and will be joined by Jim Mayer on September 18 in a benefit for the Rainbow Therapeutic Riding Center in Manassas, Virginia. We are excited to be performing at the Uptown Alley, a brand new entertainment center in town, and will be joined by special guests John Frinzi and Sunny Jim. Please come and support this terrific charity.

OCTOBER SCHEDULE AND THE SMOKIN’ TUNA
I’ll be doing a brief tour in October on my way south. So many of you have been kind enough to ask when I might be performing this winter in Key West at our beloved Smokin’ Tuna Saloon. I know you are already planning your winter vacations, so check my schedule for my October 2016 to April 2017 dates.

Thanks for listening!
