SUMMER TOUR 2014

I guess the turning of the calendar to January each year means a variety of different things to different people. I’ve long ago given up on New Years’ resolutions and the certain disappointment that goes along with that. For the past few years, the passing of the holidays signals the time that my assistant Terry and I begin the dizzying process of putting my summer tour together.

We have a few things on the calendar already so I have a general idea of the route. I’ll be leaving Key West at the end of April and traveling through the southeast on route to shows in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 1st and 2nd and then on north to New Hampshire for a May 7 show. After returning to Key West for a bit, we’ll resume touring around June 1st and do some northeast shows and then work our way through the Midwest and on to Seattle where I’m booked July 11.

From there I’ll head south and play shows in California and the southwest before making my way through the middle of the country back to the east where I have August commitments in the Mid-Atlantic states and the northeastern US and Canada.

In September I’m tentatively scheduled to join Peter and Brendan Mayer for our annual east coast tour and from there it looks like I’ll continue south, hitting the gulf coast and Texas in October.

HOUSE CONCERTS

When someone asked me to do my first house concert years ago, I must admit the concept seemed a little strange. However, over the years, house concerts have become more and more common in the life of touring songwriters. In fact, they’ve become some of my favorite intimate venues and seem to be gaining in popularity each year.

CHRISTMAS IN HAVANA

Some of you may know I recently traveled to Cuba for week. I spent three days in Havana and then traveled down to Trinidad on the south coast. I’m going to write about it in more detail next month, but have to say it was an absolutely fantastic experience.

I’m working on a song titled, “Chasing Hemingway’s Ghost,” which very well may be the title of my next CD, so I had to see his home outside of Havana while I was there. Research is arduous work!
