Greetings from Maine, where I have been holed up since early April. I often make light of my nomadic existence and lament the fact I have not slept in the same place for more than two consecutive weeks since 2012. Well, I ‘m happy to report I ‘ve been here and done that for the past five weeks and will be damn happy to hit the road soon.
The music business has been hit hard by the virus, but so have most businesses, and I read yesterday that about half of folks in the leisure and hospitality industry are out of work. Equally frightening is that getting back to the old normal may take a year or two. In the meantime, we are all learning how to function in the workplace in the new normal.
In my case, my workplace happens to be much of North America, where different regions have vastly different cases of the virus, and vastly different policies on responsible and gradual re-opening. The best I can do is count on all my friends and supporters around the country to steer me in the right direction on beginning to play again. You’ll have to bear with me that some new bookings may be announced with only three or four weeks’ notice, and there will be a few cancellations or postponements along the way. I’ll do my best to keep to you abreast of everything through my website and social media. |
