THE GREAT AMERICAN ROAD TRIP PUSHES WEST!
We just finished our first month of the tour in Omaha, Nebraska, last week and now in Idaho enjoying some time off before starting the second leg of the tour in Seattle on July 23. Had the great pleasure of seeing the amazing James Taylor/ Carole King concert in Sun Valley and hanging out a bit with Russ Kunkel and Leland Sklar, who are touring with James and Carole this summer. You may recall that Russ produced and played drums on my “Row Me Home” CD and Leland played bass. Seeing the show under the stars in Sun Valley was a special experience!
I drove into Boise today to have a little hand procedure done and should be able to play the guitar again in a few days! Very appreciative to Dr. Kline out here who is keeping me playing.
I also want to sincerely thank all of you who have come to the shows throughout the east and Midwest over the past month. I’m keenly aware that time and money are precious commodities these days, and I’m very appreciative that so many you have given up both to spend a night with us in the past four weeks.
Considering the amount of miles traveled, we’ve had quite good luck so far. One flat tire, a few close calls with deer and one unfortunate woodchuck (I put the van on two wheels trying to avoid the poor creature, nearly giving Dave a heart attack).
After visiting friends and family in Idaho and the Pacific Northwest, we begin leg two of the tour in Seattle on July 23rd. This second leg is a long one, over five weeks in duration, and brings us down the west coast for shows in Oregon and California, then east to Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana, before heading back north through Atlanta, up to Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, before ending in New England near the end of August. We’ve successfully added several shows in this past segment on fairly short notice.
OFF TO EUROPE IN SEPTEMBER WITH PETER MAYER!
I’ve been fortunate enough to receive quite a bit of airplay in a dozen or so countries in Europe over the past six months through the good promotional work of Peter Holmstedt at Hemifran Music. Hemifran is now also representing Peter Mayer and promoting his new CD “Goodbye Hello,” which is also receiving a lot of airplay. Pete and I decided this might be a good time to do a little promo tour over there together. Pete is headed to Paris to play with Jimmy Buffett on September 24, so it is good timing. Pete and I are hoping to perform with Mac McAnally and Jim Mayer in Paris on the 23rd and will spend a week or so travelling to radio stations in France, Belgium and Holland. This sounds like one trip where we should have the videographer with us. Stay tuned for details!!!
