MUMBO JUMBO – November 2010
GREETINGS FROM KEY WEST!
Just finished a short road trip which included stops on the coast of Alabama, St. Augustine, FL and Charleston, SC, one of my favorite cities on the east coast! After logging over 24000 miles on the van in four months, it was nice to catch a ride back to Key West from the gulf coast in style on TMJ Airways, the official airline of Little Flock Music! Special thanks to friends Todd and MJ for sparing me the 13 hour drive, and what a beautiful flight it was!
I believe it’s only about 24,900 miles around the entire world so it looks like sometime next week on my way to New Hampshire I’ll surpass that mark. Seems hard to believe! November will also be a very busy month for us as we start things off in Key West at the Annual Parrothead Festival with four shows, and then make my way to New Hampshire to play the PALACE THEATER in Manchester, NH, and the HAMPTON BEACH CASINO (opening for Darius Rucker). From there it’s west to Ellicottville, NY, Poland, OH, Detroit, MI, Chicago, IL, and Madison, WI, so please check the web site for details.
PARROTHEADS IN KEY WEST, Nov 3rd through 7th
For all you Parrotheads coming to town this week, bring your warm weather clothes because it’s sunny and 85 here and the forecast calls for the hot weather to continue throughout the week! Dave Edmisten will be in town with me and I’m excited to be playing again with my old friends Emily Leader and Peter Mayer. I’m also looking forward to doing a few shows back at the Pier House Beach Bar. When I first washed ashore here in 1988, I landed my first gig at The Pier House and performed regularly there for more than ten years. It’s one of the nicest spots on the island and I always enjoy getting a chance to get back there and play on the beach. Not only will we be performing there next week, but Dave and I will be doing special shows there on New Year’s Eve and the evening of New Year’s Day as well.
SCHEDULE:
WEDS, Nov 3, 7pm The Pier House Beach Bar, with Dave Edmisten
THURS, Nov 4, 7 pm The Pier House Beach Bar, with Dave Edmisten
FRI, Nov 5 – Sunset Sail on the Fury, with Dave and Emily. Tickets available at Fury site
SAT, Nov 6, 9 pm Acoustic night on The Pier House Beachwith Dave, Emily and Peter Mayer!
NEW SCOTT KIRBY CAPS!
I will have newly-designed caps available at my shows in Key West during the MOTM convention. They will also be available online beginning November 10! The new hats feature my logo on an embroidered patch on the front, with a few variations:
-Khaki hat with green logo, “LUCKY ENOUGH” on the back
-Forest Green hat with white logo, “ROW ME HOME” on the back
-Apple Green (light green hat) with green logo, “IT’S ALL ABOUT THE GIRL” on the back.
Protect yourself from the Key West sun and take home a few souvenirs!
Home to New Hampshire with the band, THE PALACE THEATER in Manchester, NOV 11(tix available) and HAMPTON BEACH CASINO, NOV 14 with DARIUS RUCKER (sold out)!
It’s been a while since I’ve performed back in New Hampshire with a band so I’m really looking forward to getting back home this month for a couple of performances in larger venues. On Thursday, November 11th I’ll be bringing the band to the beautiful Palace Theater in Manchester. I’ll be joined by Dave Edmisten on guitar and vocals, Gabriel Donohue on Keyboards, guitar and mandolin and Pete Hebert on Saxophone and perhaps another guest or two! The Palace will be 100 years old next year and is an intimate and charming place to see music with fantastic acoustics. TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE at http://www.palacetheatre.org/ and please join us after the show in the theater bar.
On the 14th we’ll be headed over to the Seacoast to open for Darius Rucker at The Historic Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom. This show is the final concert of the year at this great beachside venue and is already sold out. Darius (of Hootie and the Blowfish fame) has taken the country market by storm as of late and has a brand new CD out this month titled “Charleston, 1966.” It’s a very humbling (and frightening!) experience to open for one of the best singers in the business but after performing with Peter Mayer all these years, I’m accustomed to it!
BACK TO THE MIDWEST!
After the New Hampshire shows, Dave and I saddle up for a short tour over to The Gin Mill in Ellicottville, NY, before doing a show at Ninkasis in Poland, OH, and then on to the Detroit area where we play at Four Green Fields in Royal Oak, and then on to the Brink Lounge in Madison, WI, on Sunday the 21st. Then it’s home for Thanksgiving!! I hope you and yours have a very happy one!
Thanks for listening!
